MARTINO ONGIS

Postdoctoral Fellow

Martino Ongis is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard’s Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics, and co-leads research studies with the National Ethics Project and the Democratic Knowledge Project. His research examines the psychological factors that contribute to political polarization and represent potential barriers to democratic deliberation. In addition, he explores how individuals’ values interact with the values of organizations, and how this influences the behavior of individual or groups. Martino received his PhD from The New School for Social Research in 2020 with a dissertation on the psychology of zero-sum thinking. Some of his research has been published in top-tier journals such as Science Advances, Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, and Cognition. When not engaged in research pursuits, he enjoys photography, trail running, and music.
